I haven’t blogged in ages and I have all the time in the world now (shoo! nazar mat lagao), so here’s the output.
ò Long long time ago, when I was in my second year at college, people were debating if LAN would kill social life. I felt that was a very ridiculous idea. I have discovered the truth behind the statement over a period of time. Taking that thought a little ahead, we were debating the other day about virtual love v/s real love. Everyone loves being loved. Thanks to the virtual world we are in a position to quantify it. Its quite easy- number of friends on messenger, networking sites, number of fans, number of buzzes, mails received, number of people who have added us on their blog rolls, number of sexy, cool and trustworthy points we have, number of crushes, scraps, number of profile visitors, number of people who commented on the status so on and so forth. No, I am not immune to this, sometimes this is how even I judge if I am loved enough. Yeah, it all sounds too silly and kiddish, but then somewhere it seems to matter and affect us. Some silly cribbing to genuine complaints. One would rather sit in the room and wander aimlessly in the virtual world than push themselves out to have a chai at 2 in the night, look at the sky and sing ‘Yellow’ out of tune or listen to the most local song being played in the canteen radio. Net is not just about connecting today, it’s about earning a few brownie points here and there. Isn’t it time we stopped being a child? I don’t know!
ò Continuing with the virtual world, I read an article about how companies are recruiting people after reading their blogs. I am sure this process is still in its infancy. I was wondering how this would soon become a grand marketing exercise by everyone. People who never had a blog id would be tempted to create one. There is a possibility that being diplomatically right would take precedence over self expression. There might be posts desperately trying to attract attention. It would become like resume/ CV’s where we are trained to write the extremely good things and do things to add more bullet points to it.
Maybe I am imagining too much. Maybe not.
ò I am tired of opening the paper to read how Prince Harry’s girlfriend is pissed with him for not coming to the airport to receive her. Oh come on, that news looks good on supplement not on the main sheet which again has the most ridiculous snaps for some articles.
I think newspapers are justified in charging few pennies more everyday if that is the cost of good and substantial news. Why should the readers read articles which are biased, not balanced because some company has paid money for that article? Let there be clear sponsored articles instead.
PS: Read Mint, one because it’s a very interesting paper. And two it’s a must read if you are bombarded non- stop with brand, market, consumer and rocket science!
ò I am gaining expertise in the art of writing telegraphic messages.
- I spend most of my time making PowerPoint Presentations. I needn’t elaborate over there. Just half a line or a couple of words would do.
- Emoticons have made it worse for me.
- Conversation stoppers- more often these days thanks to my erratic schedule.
ò Shela had the largest variety of grasshoppers. There are few grasshoppers which according tome are works of art. They are eye catchy and beautifully constructed. My room is buzzing with quite a few of them now, which my roomie is desperately trying to shoo away.
ò I wish there were no co-ed hostels **wail**. I wish I could watch twenty 20!
